Lost in Comics t-shirts are now available! Yay shirts! After testing many sources I decided to go with MySoti for on-demand shirts.
MySoti does a bang up job and they’re easy to work with. They are a little slow with fulfillment. Each of my samples took me about 4 weeks, but they say they’re improving.
The prints are super vibrant. Just look at that hunky fella on the right sporting a small premium fit in dark blue. Also, they have locations in the US and in Europe, so shipping won’t be crazy for our international friends. Yay international fulfillment!
2 designs available, for now, but there’s a wide variety of colors to choose from and sizes for kids AND grown ups!
Just pick your design:
It has been a bit of a crummy week for me–a lot of unusual business stress. Things are actually going to turn out awesome, so it was really all unnecessary, but I haven’t gotten much art done in the meantime.
Anyway, I was chatting with a friend who is going through some of the same things and I brought up the Dan Pink’s amazing book Drive. It’s about the science behind what motivates us. My friend had never heard of the book, so I linked him to RSA’s beautiful cartoons of Dan’s concepts. When I first came across this video I was blown away and rushed right out to buy the book. The science is fascinating, but the cartooning in this video is equally incredible. Even if you’ve seen it already, it’s worth repeat viewings. I promise.
LOST comics will be back on track next week, but I may be doing something a little different than I have previously. I have more ideas than time, I’m afraid. Still plotting it all out, but stay tuned!
my local comic shop Dragon’s Keep turns 23 years-old this Saturday, September 11, and they’re celebrating with a bash! a bunch of the local pro comic talent–somehow that includes yours truly–will be on hand to draw sketches and make with the colorful comic time merriment. so if you are going to be in Utah’s neck of the woods, stop by and I will draw LOST drawings for you…for free! can’t beat that!
in sadder news, LOST in Comics is decidedly late this week. it was feeling a little under the weather what with all the partying it did last holiday weekend, so I gave it the week off. the first vacation it’s had in over 30 weeks! the good news is that it’s already finished for next week and dying to show itself off!
so just for you here is a sneak peek at the first panel from LOST in Comics episode 32 featuring the return of the “smoke monster!”
didja know there are prints of these LOST comics available? they make great gifts! they’re pretty nice, too! all archival and stuff. on cotton paper! like your t-shirt, but flatter and more stiff! that’s what she said.
previously on LOST (in Comics) you had to click the “buy print” button underneath the comic you wanted as a print, but I tried to make it a little easier by adding some of the fan favorites to my shop section. yay favorites! I also fixed it so you can add multiple prints to your paypal cart without wracking up crazy shipping charges. yay combined shipping!
see how nice they look framed…
give the gift that says “you are my constant” give LOST in Comics
and I’m working on other stuff for the future. here’s a peek at something I am testing out…could you see yourself in one of these babies?
Hey! We got a very sweet little write-up in Whitney Matheson’s Pop Candy on USA Today. I can’t imagine that you aren’t already familiar with Pop Candy, but if you’re not you gotta start reading it now. Whitney is one of the raddest pop culture journalists EVER. With her love of LOST aaand comics, she is totally a girl after my own heart.
I get lots of emails about how I do art, so I made a time lapse video from my coloring process on last week’s comic. This isn’t a tutorial, but it shows how I build up the color through layers. I do all of the drawing and coloring end-to-end in photoshop with my own custom brushes.
LOSTblog.com interviewed little old me about my comic scribbles. Their site is a super rad resource for all things LOST.
Go read the interview to see how awesome I am!
Last week we had the first of what is likely to be many LOST in Comics contests. The prize is a sexy art print of that week’s comic!
Check out these photos of the winner selection process!
We printed off all of the comments (186!) and cut them up…
wadded them up into little balls…
put them in a “hat”…
and then drew a winner…

Congratulations, Alyssa! I’ll get in touch soon via email. And for those of you who did not win, you are all winners to me. This contest was a bunch of fun and we will definitely do it again soon, so watch out!
Special thanks to the lovely Magnolia for all her help with the drawing!
This Saturday, May 1, is international Free Comic Book Day! For those of you who will be in the Utah neck of the woods, and I know that’s a lot of you, I will be a guest along with some of my fellow local comickers at the Dragon’s Keep in Provo doing free sketches and hawking LOST art prints. I even made up some sexy LOST in Comics bookmarks to hand out.
So come on down, get some free comics, a snazzy LOST bookmark, and I’ll draw you a nice picture of Desmond in the shower or something. BONUS!: The first person to tell me what their constant is will get something special.
And to celebrate Free Comic Book Day this week’s episode of LOST in Comics will be a special giant FCBD edition and will go up on Saturday morning.
