May the force be with you all, everybody!
Good news, everyone! The Dharma Strikes Back posters have started shipping out and should reach their new homes soon! In the tradition of Vincent vs the Droids, the bonus mini print shipping with the posters is some variant of Han Sawyer in carbonite…
Han Sawyer vs Boba Fett
Han Sawyer vs Radzinsky
I am certain that if Dharma had a device like Lando Calrissian’s carbonite machine, Radzinsky would have put LaFleur’s traitorous ass in it when he captured him and the other rebel scum.
If you ordered more than one poster, we’re doing our best to make sure you get at least 1 of each. May the force be with you all, everybody!
After a miraculous event, a fallen hero and his band of misfit castaways trek through time and disguise themselves as members of the mysterious, ill-fated Dharma Initiative with the hope of finding their way home.
Season 5 is my very favorite LOST season and Empire Strikes Back (Episode 5!) is the best Star Wars, so it didn’t take much prodding from you guys to get a follow-up to the first LOST+Star Wars poster.
The blueprint for this print is Roger Kastel’s Empire Strikes Back Style A poster. The classic Han and Leia embrace he borrowed from the old Gone with the Wind poster was a perfect fit for Sawyer and Juliet.
When it came to choosing a sub for Vader I was torn. Initially, I wanted Radzinsky since he was pretty much the face of villainy in season 5 and he was a nice match aesthetically. Locke, on the other hand, is without a doubt more iconic. So I painted both!
Each order will come with a surprise mini bonus print like last time. Get your order in now! We start shipping next week!

The posters are turning out beautifully. We really took our time with proofing to get the colors just right and super vibrant. I think everyone’s going to be very happy! We’re just waiting for some shipping supplies to arrive then we’ll begin mailing out the first batch.
And now for a bit of awkward news. Originally the poster edition was to be limited to 108, which as you know is a nice fitting number from LOST lore. However, we relied on PayPal’s email notifications to tell us when to turn off the pre-order links. Big mistake. Hours after we reached 108 and marked it as sold out, a batch of order notifications came in. Uh oh!
Apparently in the last minutes Rebecca Mader retweeted about it (Miss Charlotte! SQUEEEEEEE!!!!!). I’m sure that played a part.
To add to that, during all of the hullabaloo somebody from the LOST production team contacted us about getting a batch for a very special occasion (DOUBLE SQUEEEEEEEE!!!!). I can’t say who just yet. Sworn to secrecy! Soon. Soon.
And so…After an email exchange with the first over-order person about canceling their order and issuing refunds left me with the hot poops, we decided that it sucks to be meanies. In the end, we expanded the print run to accommodate the extras. The final edition is now 160.
If this upsets anyone who already ordered, we totally understand and would be happy to talk about it. Just know that the decision was not out of greed, although it will be nice to eat real food in San Diego and not just fish crackers, but out of wanting to be fair to people who ordered under the wire.
We went into this with no expectations and the response has been nothing short of amazing. AMAZING! I am completely humbled. The lostie community is so full of love and camaraderie! We still have a healthy number of people emailing in every day to get on the waiting list or even just to send congratulations and wish our family a good time and safe travels. We love you all!
May the force be with you all everybody!
Updates to the Desmond children’s book have been slow since I’ve been busy painting this wicked LOST poster!
As you can see, it’s a parody of the classic Chantrell Star Wars poster. I’ve had this image in the back of my mind for a couple years now, but ever since art school I’ve shied away from realistic depictions and stuck to cartooning. I had a blast doing it, though.
And it’s not without purpose! As I will let my kids explain in this video:
They actually left out a couple of things. Like how their mom also broke her toe during the plumbing fiasco, then she was diagnosed with this weird syndrome and has to take medication for, like, ever. Oh, and the vacuum blew up.
Anyway, we blew through a few thousand of our Comic-Con trip savings real quick, so I thought this could be a good way to do something fun about it. We have our passes and everything, but travel money is short.
If you could help spread the word our family would be so grateful!

BONUS! Everyone who pre-orders by July 3rd will get an extra little art print as our gift.
PS- We’re still evaluating whether to ship these flat or rolled. I’m leaning toward flat, but I would love to hear your feedback if you feel strongly one way or the other. Thanks!
UPDATE: I’ve already gotten some requests for a t-shirt with this design, so we’ll try and get something set up with MySoti or Cafe Press. Stay tuned!
UPDATE2 (6/27 10:30PM): Barely through the first day and we’ve already sold more than half! GIGANTIC thanks to Damon Lindelof for tweeting about it, to Jo Garfein for being such a champion of LOST and my art, and to everyone on Twitter, Tumblr, and YouTube who’ve had such wonderful things to say. The kids are SO thrilled out of their minds it was hard to put them down for bed!
UPDATE3 (6/28 1:45PM): We have sold over 75% already! Oh my gosh, you guys, you’re amazing. Amazing! A number of people have mentioned wanting one but needing a little time. We want everyone who really wants one to be able to get it, so we’re going to set aside a handful for you guys. If I have your contact info already I’ll try to get in touch with you about reserving one.
On the matter of shipping flat vs rolled, the response has been overwhelmingly in favor of rolled, so we’re now looking at some nice sturdy packaging for rolled prints.
UPDATE4 (6/29 5PM): SOLD OUT! Oh gosh oh gosh! THANK YOU THANK YOU! We love you all so much for making this happen! Having trouble forming complete sentences right now. Emotions! Gather. Gather. Okay, if you missed out, a few folks reserved copies, so it’s possible for cancellations. If you want to get on a waiting list, send me an email! jj (at ) lostincomics (dot) com. I will keep posting fulfillment progress, so watch out! We’ll talk soon…
